Morganite (Pink Beryl)

morganite gemstone

Morganite (Pink Beryl)

Alongside emerald and aquamarine, morganite is certainly the best known gemstone from the colourful group of the beryls. Women the world over love morganite for its fine pink tones which radiate charm, esprit and tenderness.
Gemstones change their name too
Although this gemstone came into being millions of years ago, it has only been known by the name of morganite for less than a hundred years. To be precise, in fact, since 1911, since before that the gemmological world simply viewed the 'pink beryl' as a variety of beryl, not as a gemstone in its own right. But it is not only people that change their name. Gemstones sometimes do it too. And so it was that in 1911, on the suggestion of the New York gemmologist G. F. Kunz, the pink variety of beryl was ennobled to the status of a gemstone in its own right. In honour of the banker and mineral collector John Pierpont Morgan, it was given the name under which it is known today: morganite.

Morganite is the stone of Divine Love. This delicate yet powerful stone opens one to the frequency of the universal heart.
Morganite attracts love and maintains it.

Morganite promotes abundance of the heart and prosperity of love.
It assists in connecting with Divine Love and angelic energies:
Morganite has been known both as a heart stone and an angel stone.  It has been known to bring love to one's life, and also to rekindle old loves.  As it helps to instill and nurture love, it is also told to help increase patience, and enhance one's communication skills, especially with one's angels.  It is told to bring compassion, empathy, equality and self control, balancing the emotions and easing the pain of separation.  Morganite is said to be one of the highest frequency stones available

Physically, the morganite gemstone is used for healing a wide range of ailments related to the heart and throat; such as emphysema, tuberculosis, heart disease, lungs, oxygenation and throat issues.
Some say it is quite beneficial to remedy all respiratory ailments and to increase the supply of oxygen to the cells.  This is one of the highest frequency stones available for healing.
In the Middle Ages Beryl was a talisman for artists and sculptors. It promoted creativity, eliminated weariness, maintained vivacity of spirit and raised its wearer intelligence. It also protected the owner on distant trips and helped with research and philosophy studies. The rings with Beryl were worn by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Rubens and Benvenuto Cellin
Beryl was used by fortune-tellers. Legend says that Beryl helps in fights and disputes; it makes the owner invincible, but not too aggressive. It was believed that this stone energies the mind of its wearer and shakes off his indolence.

Heliodor The Golden Beryl

Heliodor
Golden beryl gemstone

Heliodor or Golden Beryl

Most gem buyers are well acquainted with the most famous members of the beryl family -- emerald and aquamarine. Some are also familiar with the salmon pink beryl known as morganite (after the American banker and gem collector, J.P. Morgan). But there is a lesser known member of the beryl family which is actually the most available and affordable: golden beryl.

The first major deposit of the yellow golden beryl was found in Namibia in 1913 by a German mining company. They named it heliodor from the Greek for "gift from the sun," and hired a famous designer, Lucas von Cranach, to create a fabulous set of jewelry for Kaiser Wilhem II of Germany and his wife. Heliodor gained international fame as a result, but it proved to be shortlived as the war intervened. Heliodor was soon forgotten.

Additional deposits of golden beryl have been discovered in Brazil and Madagascar and these gems are now widely available. They tend to have excellent clarity and can often be found in larger sizes. The use of the term "heliodor" seems to have declined somewhat, and there is in fact some disagreement over the uses of the terms "heliodor" and "golden beryl."

According to one well-known gemological reference (Walter Schumann, Gemstones of the World), the term heliodor refers to the light yellow-green color of beryl. However, Schumann goes on to note that "since there is no clear distinction possible in the yellow and green-yellow tones in comparison to golden beryl, heliodors are generally rejected as an independent precious beryl variety and rather are counted among the weak-colored golden beryls.
Golden beryl has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, so it is suitable for all kinds of jewelry. Golden beryl colors range from the weak yellow-green of heliodor to lemon-yellow and golden-yellow. The coloring agent is iron.

Golden beryl deposits have been found in Brazil, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Probably the largest cut golden beryl in the world is the flawless 2,054 carat stone on display in the Hall of Gems in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

The Greeks believed that heliodor contained the power and warmth of the sun and that it was responsible for the alternation of day and night.  This strong belief is reflected in the name itself, for the Greek meaning of heliodor is "gift of the sun".
This gemstone was at some point forgotten completely, and only recently rediscovered.
Heliodor is a comforting stone, it assists one in empathizing with others and to feel comfortable doing so.  It is a high energy stone, resonating with the pituitary glands, and aids in spiritual and psychic development.
It is a wonderful stone to wear if you are having difficulty understanding the problems of a close friend or family member.  BY holding the stone in your hand while you are with this person, you may feel their emotional needs and better understand what is upsetting or troubling them.

To prevent chording, from this person to your aura, also wear or hold a piece of red jasper.  Later ground yourself with clear quartz or one of the stones associated with the Earth element.

Psychologically, heliodor bring equilibrium to the wearer and give them courage for life and living.  It promises the wearer charisma and personality.  It can stimulate the mind and promote a clear head, especially in negotiations and mentally demanding work.
Heliodor is good for clearing the body of toxins. It has a stimulating effect on the vegetative nervous system and a particularly beneficial effect on the solar plexus. It is known to counteract the over-reactions and hyperactivity of the general body.  Heliodor water eases stiff muscles and muscle cramps.

Energy: Receptive
Element: Fire
Powers: Psychic

Beryl has been worn to prevent fascination, or what would today be called deliberate psychic manipulation, such as practiced by evangelists, some salespersons and politicians.  This is also called being tagged or corded, when an individual attaches an astral line to your astral body, generally through the solar plexus (3rd) chakra.  Through this cord they may be able to drain your energy and even manipulate your actions if they posses enough strength.

If this happens, tape a small piece of tumbled beryl over your navel and leave in place for as long as it takes to break the cording, generally a full 24 hours.
Keep a heliodor on your altar or with your meditation equipment to aid in the development of your psychic powers and spiritual communications.

I hope you enjoyed a peek into the world of Heliodor the Golden Beryl
Tomorrow beryl will be Morganite the last beryl gem in my beryl post.

Peace :)

Aquamarine the stone of Psychic abilities

Aquamarine the stone of Psychic abilities, peace, courage and purification

Aquamarine gemstone

The gemstone Aquamarine is the modern March birthstone as adopted by the American National Association of Jewelers in 1912. It is also the birth stone for the Zodiac sign of Scorpio. See the birthstone table for additional references to this stone. Aquamarine is suggested as a gem to give on the 16th and 19th wedding anniversaries.
Modern Birthstone for the Month of March but  it is an ancient birthstone in many cultures for the month of October.

Stone of Taurus according to some, due to the fact that aquamarine (and the entire beryl family) are of hexagonal (six-sided) crystalline form, and six is a number belonging to Venus.  Others say it is connect with Gemini, Pisces and Aries.

For Aquarius the aquamarine promotes friendship and love, while for Pisces it encourages awareness.  Libras are warned against danger.

To dream of aquamarine means loving friendships, happy relationships and much pleasant social activity is coming.

Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family and ranges in color from an almost colorless pale blue to blue-green or teal. The most prized color is a deep-blue aqua color. It is 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale of hardness and gets its name from Latin words meaning water and sea.

The most valuable aquamarines come from Brazil, but it is also mined in Kenya and Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Russia. . Aquamarines on the market today are usually faceted, but when cut as a cabochon, they may display a cat's eye effect known as asterism.

Some gemstones are heated to high temperatures to enhance the color and/or clarity of a stone. Aquamarines are often heat treated to change a blue-green or teal colored stone to a pure blue. This results in a permanent color change.
Although aquamarine has quite a range of uses, it's strongest energies are in the field of opening up the psychic.  If you are especially sensitive to the thoughts and vibrations of other people, wear aquamarine with smoky quartz, as this combination will ease the sharpness of the incoming impressions, and the quartz will help to ground you in the physical.  In this manner you may avoid being overcome by unwanted impressions.
Aquamarine is told the help reduce one's dependence on drugs, and to help eliminate fluid retention by strengthening the kidneys, liver, spleen and thyroid, thus purifying the general body.  At one time, long ago, eyeglasses were made of aquamarine as the stone is soothing to the eyes.
It is told that this stone placed on the neck or worn as a short necklace will treat many neck and throat problems. Placed on swollen glands or worn around the neck it will reduce swelling.  Chronic tonsillitis may be relieved by wearing a necklace of aquamarine together with turquoise, sodalite, chalcedony and blue topaz.  This stone also has a beneficial effect on the thyroid, and is helpful is most all throat and neck ailments.
Energy: Receptive
Element: Water
Powers: Psychic abilities, peace, courage and purification.
Aquamarine is said to be the stone of the sea goddesses of past times, due to it's association with the sea.   As a semiprecious variety of beryl, it has long been associated with the sea and element of water. Sea Witches are told the cleanse the stone in the ocean water at night by the light of the full moon.

In magic, this glorious stone is worn or carried about the body to enhance the use of psychic powers. Holding a crystal of the aquamarine or wearing a faceted form of the stone around the neck reduces our conscious mind's hold on the psychic mind and allows our ever present psychic impulses to be heard and to enter into our more conscious mind.

A gentle and cleansing elixir can be created by placing an aquamarine in a glass of fresh water, allowing it to sit in the full moonlight, outdoors if possible, for three hours.  Retrieve the stone, drink the liquid for purification and heightened psychic awareness.

Hope you enjoyed the wonderful gemstone aquamarine tomorrow’s  gemstone will be Bixbite.

Sodalite

Sodalite is a rich royal blue mineral widely enjoyed as an ornamental gemstone. Although massive sodalite samples are opaque, crystals are usually transparent to translucent. Sodalite is a member of the sodalite group with hauyne, nosean, lazurite and tugtupite.
Discovered in 1811 in the Ilimaussaq intrusive complex in Greenland, sodalite did not become important as an ornamental stone until 1891 when vast deposits of fine material were discovered in Ontario, Canada.
A light, relatively hard yet fragile mineral, sodalite is named after its sodium content; in mineralogy it may be classed as a feldspathoid. Well known for its blue color, sodalite may also be grey, yellow, green, or pink and is often mottled with white veins or patches. The more uniformly blue material is used in jewellery, where it is fashioned into cabochons and beads. Lesser material is more often seen as facing or inlay in various applications.
Although somewhat similar to lazurite and lapis lazuli, sodalite rarely contains pyrite (a common inclusion in lapis) and its blue color is more like traditional royal blue rather than ultramarine. It is further distinguished from similar minerals by its white (rather than blue) streak. Sodalite's six directions of poor cleavage may be seen as incipient cracks running through the stone.

Mystical and Healing  Properties:

It is told that sodalite will harmonize the inner being or the conscious with the subconscious mind.
It is most helpful for work in groups and stimulates thought. It is a stone wonderfully beneficial for healing breaches in communication. A stone of truth, it brings this to all communications. It can help end arguments or other disagreements that have to do with communication or when communication has become an issue. It is particularly useful for honesty of emotions. It increases intelligence, knowledge and learning and will unite the logical with the spiritual.
Sodalite is an excellent stone for reducing high blood pressure if carried constantly on the person. Necklaces of sodalite beads that hang down to the heart area will increase its hypotensive properties.

It also is associated with the thyroid, it has a calming regularity effect on the thyroid gland, the vegetative nervous system and all glandular functions. By balancing the endocrine system, it strengthens the metabolism. Reduces stress and helps to prolong physical endurance.

In order to properly benefit from this stone's energy it must be worn or carried as a touchstone over a long period of time. It should be discharged under running water on a weekly basis, or whenever the stone becomes cloudy or changes color. Then it should be charged again in a bowl of water together with a rock crystal.

Energy: Receptive
Element: Water
Powers: Healing, peace, meditation, wisdom

Sodalite is excellent for psychic development and meditation, particularly if used with lapis or other clear quartz crystal. While other stones may blast open the inner doorway to the psychic, this stone gently eases it open. This allows us acceptance of and working with the new and different abilities much easier than if they had come too suddenly.

Worn in jewelry, sodalite forms a quite reliable connection with your intuition, thus giving a gentle flow of information that can save lots of time and trouble.
